The homie Mike Benson just put up a new installment of the Knife Show.  He shot and edited this bitch...

And a totally unrelated funny article on a violent ice-skating bear in Central Asia...

Another new product from Apple.  Start obsessing if you are one of "them."

It's a Magic Mouse...

"Multi-Touch technology on the iPhone and iPod touch introduced a breakthrough way to interact with your content. Magic Mouse, with its Multi-Touch surface, does the same thing for your Mac. When you use gestures, it's as if you're touching what's on your screen. For instance, swiping through web pages in Safari gives you the feeling of flicking through pages in a magazine. And scrolling with Magic Mouse isn't your everyday scrolling. It supports momentum scrolling (similar to iPhone and iPod touch), where the scrolling speed is dictated by how fast or slowly you perform the gesture."

Thanks Jeremy...even tho he's a fan of those stupid-ass Phillies, he has good taste in art.  :)

Artist Stormie and a few of his friends just returned from Scotland.  This is a trailer for a short film covering the Agents of Change Ghostvillage project.  Aside from being very cold, Stormie said it was awesome...

I invite you to come out and see "Down For Life" at the Mann's Chinese tonight.  This is my first feature film screenwriting effort, and it is being showcased tonight with an introduction by Edward James Olmos at the Los Angeles Latino Independent Film Festival (LALIFF).  His intro is at 6:45pm, and the film screens at 7pm.  Please come and check it out.  There is a Q and A after with me, the Director Alan Jacobs, and the cast.  The film is about a 15 year old chola gangster in South Central L.A. who decides to leave her gang for a brighter future.  You can buy a $10 ticket here: http://tinyurl.com/yzbew4o

The artist who did the mural - Rabi - painted the quote.  Someone else threw the red paint splash on first a bit ago and this was Rabi's next move...his comment was about the shifting nature or life and how change is the only thing you can't change.  Cool.  What I have always loved about street art is the transient presence it has - one day I see something and the next day there is something else there.  Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it while you can.

Scion presents
"Infinity"
Curated by Andrew Schoultz

"Infinity" is a group exhibition of artists whose practices or aesthetics relate to the many facets of the Infinite. The vastness of this concept will be explored by 15 artists through painting, drawing, photography, and 3D multi-media installation. The subject matter as well as the medium will vary greatly. Some artists work may be a more literal interpretation of this subject, suggestive of such things as mathematics, space, time, technology, abstraction, pattern, or repetition, while others have chosen to address the opposite or "finite", such as fragility, mortality, the temporary, and even doomsday scenarios.

I saw this guy last night on my way home from work.  Gotta hand it to him, he's got balls.  The kid was out in broad daylight getting up all over Villaraigosa with his red paint.  The next corner up there was a huge accident too, so there were a ton of firetrucks nearby, but nothing shook him.  I will get the final shot up tomorrow...he claims to be "The Fear."

I am not kidding.
How cool is this?  Take a bus tour through Los Angeles of some of Bukowski's haunts -
"the Postal Annex Terminal where he gathered the material for "Post Office," the De Longpre apartment where he briefly experimented with marriage and fatherhood, one of his favorite bars and liquor stores, and many other spots."  November 7th, it's a 4 hour tour in an air conditioned bus...I'd say, bring a flask.

Alex Pardee's new exhibit "Hiding From the Normals" is being installed as we speak!
The opening is this Tuesday, October 6th at 7pm at Gallery 1988 LA.

Alex is known for his dark imagery and narratives.  He is inspired by his own anxiety-ridden adolescence and passion for comics.  What I love about his work is his fusion of dark black lines with bright colors.  He makes art that is creepy and surreal.

Here are some secrets on his anticipated show he published on his blog:

1. The entire show is based off of the beliefs of a man who recently went missing in real life. The man was a supposed crackpot and believes that there is another world living under ours filled with mutants. It is not known if this man is still alive or not.

2. In addition to creating paintings inspired by this missing man's beliefs, I have managed to get my hands on some actual evidence supporting the existence of this world. The evidence and some of his notes & sketches will be showcased alongside of the artwork.

3. I have recently become obsessed with this world that I jumped into, and I really hope that this showcase generates some interest in this universe called "The Marrow" so that this whole underworld can be expanded into something larger, like a film or an animated feature (hint, hint). So if you can't make it out to the show, but know anyone in the area, send them down!!

4. There will be BOTH a super limited PRINT release, as well as a limited CATALOG/BOOK release, called "Digging Up The Marrow: Excerpts from the Journals of William Dekker". Prints are signed and limited to 50. Books signed and limited to 200.

5. Because of the theme/inspiration and the time of the year, I am taking full advantage of October, which means that I am dressing up! And we are encouraging people to dress up in awesome costumes, both so I don't feel super stupid and outcast, AND because there is a cool prize for THE BEST COSTUME (judged by me:). I think it would be cool to have 2 winners, a BEST GIRL & A BEST GUY, so let's do that. Come dressed up!!!!!

6. In conjunction with MY show, at G1988, right next store, at the same time, the insanely awesome writer/director Mike Dougherty is hosting his DVD release costume party for his new anthology horror film, "Trick R Treat" which is rad.i.cal. Also, as a little extra fun thing, I teamed up with Mike this week and drew up some Trick R Treat art that we are releasing at my show as a Limited shirt! (I think there's less than a hundred of them available)

7. This show is going to be my LAST solo show for over a year. I will be participating in a few group shows, but 2010 is going to be full of some different kind of adventures:) Stay tuned.
