And Namie Amuro has a new album out. Here is a promotional big rig cruising around 'Buya. She is a major icon who I would love to interview one of these days. She came along just as the Shibuya gyaru subculture was born, also went on to become the first major J artist to do the r&b sound here early on. She looks like an beautiful anime alien with those blue contact. Big sister watching over Shibuya.
Last weekend I spoke to a group of fashion and media students visiting town from Columbia College in Chic-ago. 60 years of Japanese street fashion history in 45 minutes. Whew.
They are putting on an anime inspired fashion inspired show in a couple of months--what would Kawakubo-san say about this cultural export influencing the world of fashion? I will try to ask her at the Vuitton-Garcons opening.
