Yet another article published in Newsweek on the global POWER OF WOMEN complete with a fierce vintage photo of Lynda Carter as the archetypical "Wonder Woman" (first introduced as a DC comics character battling the Axis military powers in 1941), a woman who--with her lasso of truth and indestructable bracelets of stability-- fought above all else to bring the ideals of peace, love, and sexual equality back to a world torn apart by the governance of men. Interestingly enough, Rosie the Riveter was introduced to popular culture circa 1942... I wonder if the timing is coincidental. hmmm... anyway, back to the article..... Unfortunately (after a substantial amount of surf and search time) I could not find a link to the piece, HEAR HER ROAR, penned by Rana Foroohar & Susan H. Greenberg for the November 2nd edition of Newsweek Magazine to link to on this post. (if you are able to find it, please do let me know)... but suffice to say, it echoes much of what is covered in the TIME article as well as echoing much of the subject matter at the women's convention... More importantly, the sum of all of these reminded me of an enlightening feature that The New York Times Magazine ran back in August about "Why Women's Rights are the Cause of Our Time"... fortunately I was able to find a link to this article and I highly recommend thoroughly reading what's being said about the
WOMEN'S CRUSADE.
Here's a brief summary:
In many parts of the world, women are routinely beaten, raped or sold into prostitution. They are denied access to medical care, education and economic and political power. Changing that could change everything....
