There are scents that linger in your memory forever. The scent of the holidays, of family gathering... The scent of your first love... Imagine if a perfume were infusing that moment of destiny and present at that first meeting, making it all the more memorable.

Destiny and meetings that change one's life are at the heart of Chanel N°5's history, with the life of Coco Chanel as a testament to fate.

01

On May 5 premieres the new Chanel Number Five advert and for those of you who thought that Nicole Kidman's version was too Hollywood and not quintessentially French enough, this one ought to satisfy.

08

First, the scenery, the mythical Orient-Express for the most part and one of its iconic destinations: Istanbul. The story itself is pretty simple: a woman, a man, a moment that changes the path of their lives forever. To guide them -and us- and link them, her sillage, Chanel N°5.

15

We find Audrey Tautou, currently on-screen as Coco Chanel in the biopic "Coco Avant Chanel", a very different character, softer and more feminine. Perhaps is she the Coco that might have been, if her life had been fraught with drama? The very cushy Orient-Express and the almost-sepia tones of the movie evoke luxury and the colour of the perfume itself.

Behind the camera is Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who has already worked twice with Audrey, first on Amélie Poulain, then on Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles, which were both met with success.

With every detail carefully thought out, this new offering is definitely romantic and in keeping with a certain idea of romance. It also speaks volumes on the quality of the cast and crew on this set which was rather unlike others, which is fitting for a house like Chanel that is not quite like any other...

19

Filming in such a confined space as a train carriage looked like it was a real challenge, between lighting issues, space issues and the perpetual movement. Certainly for anyone who has travelled on a night train -albeit less luxurious ones than the Orient Express- the cramped spaces make creativity a necessity in order to be comfortable, so I can imagine what it must have been like with the bevvy of equipment required to make a movie!

22

What amazes me most in the Istanbul shots is that nowhere do you see the ubiquitous supertankers that mar the narrow stretch of sea constantly.

Kris Van Assche tries to balance a historical sense with radical modernism.  His refined Autumn/Winter 09 collection was showcased at Paris Fashion Week.  Originally born in Belgium in 1976, Kris graduated from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts and moved to Paris in 1998.  After working at Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme, he began to show his original collections in 2005.

This season's ensembles incorporated sleek lines and were made from luxurious materials.

Jumpsuits were a key trend throughout the Autumn/Winter shows and Kris' show proved no exception.  This particular jumpsuit had an intricate and delicate pattern, the contrast between grey and black tones being particularly subtle.

Gold war incorporated into some of the ensembles to add a real touch of glamour to the classic, defined and strong outfits.  A-symmetry, once again, proved to be a key look in the collection, adding an quaint air to the show.  However, ultimately, the designs remained classic, with beautiful, sleek jackets.  While colour was not in abundance, tones and textures were explored to create a real depth to the outfits.

Colette  just got a complete makeover grace  a Japanese interior designer Masamichi Katayama, aka Wonderwall.  It kinda looks the same yet more cluttered.  Similar to the Supreme skateboard shop in NYC, with everything Nike, Reebok, Bathing Ape and Ice Cream brands, and everything kitsch on the first floor from Hello Kitty stylus pens, to the latest in fab Magazines.  The Resto is still in the ground floor, and everything designer from House of  Holland, Marc, and everyone in between on the 2nd floor.

The stores now has white walls with glass, steel and black leather incorporated into its Neo new atmosphere, with great graphics to add that urban feel  to the walls.  Best thing is the warm staff is still there, who bring cool to Paris multicultural  and trendy to the world of Colette! Gap plans to open a pop- up -shop at the  everything cool, kitsch and on the verge at Colette  Fall 08.

If you watch music videos today most performers have a personal style and one of the most popular props for an artist is a baseball cap. Most likely designed by the people at New Era. Now New Era enters the sportswear market.

When talking to the PR and Marketing executive for New Era Europe, Lynsey says the American market; the British market and the French markets are totally different. Yankees and Brit's are more similar it's all about he "Bling" and matching your hat to your kicks. While in France, it's all about your personality hip hopers, skaters to Techtonique dancers wear New Era.

So the Wad offices with the Wad team were the perfect place for the French launch!
