Newness / Garance Dore / Paris

 

 

modlon2[1].jpgI have been watching Garance Dore for awhile. I want to call it "The Frech Sartorialist" but it is so much more delicious to watch. Like the Sartorialist, it photographs people on the street, only they are in Paris. What shook me the most about Dore was the way she photographs. They are portraits, the clothes are there stylized however the person wishes but they are never- ever- more important than the subject. The person comes first with Dore. Love seeing my Frechies across the way! Weaved in with her portraits are sketches of things she sees or looks she thinks of. They are girlie-but cute.

The New York Times writes a great piece comparing the Sartorialist to Dore and hands down Dore reigns.
