Bergdorf Goodman's windows are legendary here in this little city. The CHANEL installation is now proof of two things:
(1) CHANEL is slowly taking over the world and
(2) My windows will never be that good................

If you are in retail, I really don't have to tell you how off the charts-crucial-Bergdorf Goodman's merchandising is. Beyond powerhouse. I stopped by the new handbag room on the 57th street side to merchandise our new YSL wall and I freaked. The mannequins placement is amazing. On the walls! Hiding behind column's! Then they have these beautiful rainfall chandeliers- I was impressed. Well worth the wait Mrs. Fargo, well worth the wait......

While men designers all over the world struggle to understand a woman's silhouette  there are some of us that strive to achieve the  grace  of a finely cut men's suit.  Kiton doesn't strive, it is already there.   If you don't know about Kiton, you will, you'll find it through word of mouth or on a tag of a beautiful cashmere sweater in your grandfather's closet. Kiton's customer finds them, making it all the more exclusive.  Try and Google them.  You will not find anything.  It isn't until you go into their flagship store in NYC (the only one in th US) where you understand the Italian lux label for all it is.

Go Italia.

I have always been into -looking into- what people are getting into (say that three times fast!!).
I reached out to Angelo Baque moons ago when I saw his photo on facebook through Heron Preston's profile.  I recognized his name because I used to read his posts on RIOTTT.
A little messaging back and forth, a drink and a bite to eat and I was impressed.  For someone that has contributed (if not help build) NY staples like Nom De Guerre and SUPREME Baque keeps on killing it as, well, Baque.
Never obnoxious, never in your face about his accomplishments, Angelo is a true figure in the independent label industry.  His blog is a good one too.  If he is kicking it at a family BBQ, at a photoshoot with Terry Richardson, or hanging out at the same party as Andre Benjamin his lens is always unaltered.  He always takes his own photos and always is providing nothing but the truth.  All in his eyes, check it out.

When Chanel came out with their black nail polish a couple of Fall Winter's ago the beauty industry went ga-ga.  It was cute to see all these girls going goth with stubby nails and black glossy polish.  Ashlee Simpson, Kiera Knightly, Nicole Richie, Gwenyth Paltrow- they all were going black.
This Fall, Yves Saint Laurent Beaute launched the new black.  With hints of charcol and pearlized ivory this shade is pretty crucial.  Be gone boring black!!  This new shade has dimension.  Let's face it, girls are complicated and with this new polish - the morphing tones each time you wear it- women have finally found a nailpolish that understands them... now go get it.
The sexy Halston in the 60's is still the sexy Halston in 2008.  Despite all the drama and the resurrection speculation like, "can Halston come back?!", they have gotten off to a more than healthy start.  Their clothes are wearable, and not only that they are marketable to all body types.  Those long minimal dresses that look delicious on super-models will look just as smashing on you. Yes you.  So while all of your friends are counting down the days till Paris debuts its super houses like Chanel and YSL, don't forget about 'lil 'ol Halston. A brand that truly understands (and forgives) a woman's silhouette.  Clothes should be this easy, right?

The RODARTE women know how to work the decal.  Intricate layering, beautiful color stories and bit of Mad Max meets Gattica, their Spring collection is very, very, pretty.  I have been a fan of a good army of women on the catwalk (see YSL FW08) since, I don't know, forever, and RODARTE's women pass the test.  Their pale skin and tangerine glossy eye shadow not only compliment the clothes but also the message......the RODARTE girls want to play, and judging  by those heels, it doesn't look like they want to play nice.....
