How to Beat Cellulite

cellulite structure

About 80% of women across all body sizes, ages and shapes have cellulite. Cellulite appearance is, in fact, more common in females than males because of their less criss-crossed tissue bands which give less skin support and allow free-floating fat cells to bulge, forming a dimpled appearance. Other factors include genetics, hormonal imbalance, and unhealthy practices.

Because cellulite is a structural problem, active and thin men and women may still experience skin dimples. Of course, losing weight helps reduce the bulges yet it has to be paired with exercise, firming routines, and other effective solutions.

Exercise

Some people think that getting a tan will resolve the problem but in reality, sun exposure only makes the skin loose and worsen the cellulite appearance. Toning exercises, on the other hand, have been proven effective. Depending on the affected area, research some butt, arm or leg toning exercises that suit your preference.

Dry Brushing and Massage

Both actually help improve the body circulation, particularly the lymph flow, and thus reduce fluid retention in problem areas. Some skin clinics, however, only use dry brushing and massage in conjunction with treatments that decrease fat cells and enhance skin elasticity.

Coffee Ground Scrubs

Scrubs in general result in improved blood circulation and cell regeneration, more so if the scrubs are rich in skin vitamins and minerals like retinol and collagen. Coffee grounds are widely used as exfoliants and cure for cellulite. To create a paste, mix 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 tablespoons sugar, and ¼ cup ground coffee beans. Apply the mixture onto the affected area with the desired pressure and leave it on for at least 10 to 15 minutes. When washing off, use lukewarm water.

Essential Oils

Massage plus essential oils is a powerful combination that allows essential vitamins and minerals to penetrate deeply into the skin, besides relaxing the body. Often, when treating cellulite, juniper oil and olive oil are used together because of their fluid preventive, firming, and detoxifying properties. Combine ¼ cup olive oil and 10 drops of juniper oil and massage onto skin for 20 to 30 minutes. Do this on a regular basis for at least a month, and notice your skin difference.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This wonder drink has helped the immune system of too many people already. Drink at least once a day to also strengthen your overall vitality. Apple cider vinegar is enriched with calcium, magnesium, potassium and many other minerals that are critical to detoxification and reduction of fluid retention. Plus, it also aids in losing weight. With less fat, there will also be a decreased number of cellulite bulges or pockets.

Yet, it can also be applied externally to eliminate cellulite. For external application, combine honey (amount is dependent on personal preference), water, and apple cider vinegar. Water proportion must be twice as that of the apple cider vinegar. After which, rub the mixture onto the problem area and always rinse with lukewarm water. You may also leave it on for an hour or so and wrap the body part with plastic for better absorption.

While the above cellulite solutions are effective, one needs to persevere and be patient. Of course, there is also the option to seek a dermatologist for faster yet costlier machine-assisted treatments. The choice is yours to make.
