Los Angeles hosted the dwell on Design 09 convention last weekend and there were some amazing pieces. Amongst my favorites were Log Bowls by Loyal Loot Collective. Using log cut offs, acrylic paint, and a water based gloss finish these bowls are handmade from different varieties of locally reclaimed trees. Reclaimed is defined on their site as "fallen or cut down due to infrastructure, re-landscaping, droughts, or stormy weather." Frickin' rad, they are using parts of the environment that would otherwise be trashed and they are saving someone from having to clean it all up and haul it to a dump or compost somewhere too.
They come in many vibrant colors and vary in height, with a dimension of 2 - 10 inches. Design is by Doha Chebib for CABIN. I really like the lighter aqua blue one. Seriously, what an awesome way to eat corn flakes. By Trina Calderon
