This speakeasy "Showroom," located 117 Kane Concourse,#201, Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, is loaded with every designer you can think of from Channel to Lillie Rubin. Lavish vintage everywhere!  Remember Lillie Rubin, located in Bal Harbor shops, many visited to shop for fancy Bat and Bar Mitzvah dresses after lunching at Coco's, oh the 80's. I first met Hollen at the funkiest of funky weddings, held on a beautiful farm in Costa Rica. Now when you think Costa Rica, besides the beauty, you think DEET and you don't bring your nicest designer flocks. As I was daydreaming and enjoying the beauty of the wedding, I saw a delightful rainbow coming towards me. Who is this rainbow I wondered???? And many other guests were electrified and staring with awe at this outfit.  "I'm Missoni," she said politely, answering to an elderly hippie mother. "Nice to meet you Missoni," she smiled back. She started to laugh and said , "No, No, I'm wearing vintage Missoni. My name is Hollen." I mean Missoni is a cool name for someone anyway, especially in the rainbow collation family. So me and my big mouth approached her and asked where she purchased her rainforest rainbow wedding outfit and had to play detective to find out where I can buy one for my next rainforest wedding, in order to look my best. She owns a showroom and stylists are going to eat these clothes up for movies, music video's, commercials galore.  To begin, right when you walk in you have artwork by Spencer Tuniks' Miami series and photographs by Lee Materazzi, an artist I profiled at Art Basel this year. Cool Tunes, and decent prices lead me to buy this beautiful terri-cloth hot Pink dress that I can wear everyday in New York, or out every night. Jenn was more than helpful, and shared some secrets on how they purchase their items. So, my point.. GO! If you're a visitor, don't go shopping in Aventura or South Beach. Hollen and Jen's speakeasy showroom is better than the Wonka Factory!

Work that sidewalk girl with your new gucci bag!

I went on a j date with someone who wore larger shoulder pads, in his jacket, then my mom in the 80's.
I went to an 80's party, where everyone had a prom dress on their beloved bodies from 1987, bought at forever 21 and H&M.
I went with my gal pal to the park on Sullivan street, and saw the bold letters DKNY, in bright neon yellow.
I went to Barney's, to sneak a peak, and saw some JBrand grey jeans with the zipper on the bottom like the old guess jeans back in the 80's.
At the speakeasy, Please Don't Tell, you can play Mrs. Pac Man while you wait.
But this, I was blown away to see; furthermore I'm surprised they don't have an I phone ap for this game played in the 80's. I want my cabbage patch kid! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Bat Mitzvah to me
Happy Bat Mitzvah to me
Today, May 16th is my Bat Mitzvah anniversary!!
You know, sometimes I feel sad that I am the last standing single gal of all my pals.
Even last week, I received a hot pink wedding invitation in an orange envelope. Does that scream Miami or New Jersey? And of course, I responded YES, because hell I'll go to any party, even if I dislike the person. But now, my best friends all have their new best mates and are reproducing like rabbits. And it's a different vibe and I may never become a bride. Will Jewish Speed dating save me? So, I keep myself in check. I too had a very special day in 1987. Cara's Winter Wonderland was envisioned by my parents and executed by Lee Brian Schrager who now is the d

irector of special events and media relations at Southern Wine and Spirits. But he did a kick ass job, and my party rocked better than most weddings and some marriages! I love you Jill and Steve Bloch!

In 1998 Madeleine Kirsh opened an amazing 10,000 square foot space found on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach called C. Madeleine's.  The store truly is a vintage utopia with everyone from Milla Jovovich, Chole Sevingy, and Madonna flocking around like wild animals searching for designer vintage Chanel suits, hot pink Pucci day dresses, Badgley Mishka cocktail attire, Bill Blass floral flocks and if you're a Cher fanatic this is the place where Bob Mackie Dresses come to die. The jewelry section is even more delicious to look at; it's like entering the Wonka Factory and you are looking for that golden ticket. Vogue called the store "Miami's best kept secret," and the word on the street is that C' Madeleine's is best described as one of "the fashion wonders of the world."

However, unless you are a super stylist the staff watches you like hawks the second you step foot in the door. As you enter the store, you must lock your items in a high school locker and walk around with someone who works there to make sure you do not steal anything. The store is amazing, like a museum, and if you're a die-hard fashion fanatic ready to throw down some cash, this is the place for you.

The story begins when I had to pick out some jewelry to dazzle up an pink prom bridesmaid dress and I thought I would find my magic at C. Madeleine's. As I walked in, the paranoia began and the ladies followed me around just waiting for me to even try and steal something. I ended up spending $300.00 for a necklace and a ring. I adore my ring even though it was annoying to buy it. When my gal pal Vida came to town for the wedding, another vintage fanatic, I decided to take her to C.Madeleines to show her the palace. The second we walked in and the kooky hawks spotted us, she went bonkers and dug her nails into me and said,  "We are off to Red, White, and Blue."

Red, White, and Blue is another amazing vintage wonderland where you don't have to check your suitcase at the door. It's another one of Miami's best-kept vintage secrets.  As a photographer I hit the jackpot when I found an Sx-70 Polaroid camera just lying by it's lonely self. I almost took down a 90-year-old woman who was just looking at the candlesticks behind it, just to grab it when nobody there had any intentions to buy it!  I also bought lamps for my bedroom here and then I was horrified and shocked to find the same  $150.00 pearl necklace I bought at C. Madeleines for $2.00 dollars at the register! Vida kept laughing as my Irish Jew face turned beet red. I felt like reporting that store to the fashion police!  Vida said this is Miami's best-kept Vintage Wonderland.

A year later, a pinklicious fairy danced into town, spent 2 hours at Red, White, and Blue strolling out with a plethora of shirts and one major tutu all under 10 bucks!
