I'm an Indiana native, seasoned in San Francisco, now living in the heart of Los Feliz. I spend my free time exploring people and places when I'm home and when I'm on tour with my band The Donnas. I love factories and seeing how things are made, and I document everything.

Art and Soul Tattoos

It's always exciting to find a thriving artistic business run by a woman, one such place is Art and Soul Tattoos.

Erika Stanley has been tattoing since 1993 and established Art and Soul Tattoo in 1996. Their myspace page has a ton of inspiring shots of her work and the other artists at the shop like Adam Kilss (who makes killer paintings too), Joby Cummings, Danny Chan, and Scott Stollar, as well as other international guests like Malika Rose and Jake Fraser. Their location, on Robertson south of Pico, always gets a weird reaction, but it's actually a cool little stretch with small local neighborhood oriented businesses, way different than the Kitson and Ivy vibe a few miles up the same street (hurl!). Erika's work spans from Japanese to traditional American, but I'm especially blown away by her pin-ups and animal portraits.

Here's the info in case you can't get it off their myspace page,

2600 S Robertson Blvd

Los Angeles, CA 90034

There's one on Ft. Meyers too, so don't be fooled!DSCF5314.JPG

Oh and did I mention that they have team spirit too? These are some of their bowling trophies on display at their new location freshly opened on the corner of Robertson, just two doors down from their old shop. Striiiike!!!
