Malibu was all a glow Thursday night when hundreds of family and friends came out to celebrate with Veronica of Veronica's Skin & Body Care Center and Drs. Darshan & Milan Shah as they unveiled the new Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center and Veronica Tai Chi & Yoga Studio.  A silent auction fundraiser benefited Operation Smile.

_MG_8051.JPGGuests toured the elegant new Beautologie offices while sipping shatinis and nibbling on Jennifer Naylor's delicious food. Many many guests practiced tai chi moves with master Doria Cook-Nelson and received free facial treatments.  The drumming was fun and everyone joined in including all the children.

The silent auction was a huge success (Veronica raised over $14,000.00 for Operation Smile) with items from Cher, Olivia Newton-John, Susanne Sommers, Michael Bolton and many others all garnering bids.

Veronica and Dr. Shah were ecstatic with the turnout and pleased to draw attention to Operation Smile.  "As a long-time member of the Malibu community it is extremely heartening to me that so many of my clients have truly become my friends and came out to support this worthy cause," said Veronica.  Dr. Darshan Shah who is quickly becoming entrenched in Malibu echoes her sentiments, "It is a pleasure to receive such a warm welcome to the community.  I look forward to getting to know many of the residents and to continuing our involvement and support of Operation Smile."

Mush is an eclectic boutique with an emphasis on home decor, located in a Historical Landmark building, built by famed director Cecil B. Demille (Actually, this particular building was originally his production house with Paramount Studios), in Hollywood California.   I Love Cecil B. Demille!!...And I love Mush!  Every month or two they have fantastic little, martini shopping parties in the store...that I find quite nice to attend.  Def one of my fave secret spots to shop and pick up specialty gifts too.

The high light of the 80's for me, aside from collecting hundreds of rubber bracelets and watching MTV every night, till the break of dawn...Was collecting these plastic sushi rolls and other plastic chotchkies that looked real...I could have sworn they were called Minkmans, but for some strange reason...that word IS NOT coming up in Google...Anyhow...I thought it was very cool to see these fantastic frosted, faux cocktail, martini Minkman type...ummm....I dunno what the word is for these....But I love em!!!
IMG_2529.jpg
Owner Michelle van der Heijden hand selects each and every item for her boutique with great care and love.  Drawing from 20 years of interior design and retail experience from the East Coast to the West.

I also love the collection of jewelry pieces Michelle has put together.  I highly recommend dropping by for a look.  Mush offers a broad range of pieces from, clean and modern, to vintage, as well as items that are quite delicate and feminine.  Gotta love that...

I happen to personally love anything with a bohemian flare.  I don't think it ever really goes out of style especially, if you wear it and it does not wear you...

There are tons of wonderful treasures to explore and find at MUSH...

The grandson of an Oklahoma moonshine runner and the son of a 1950's pinstriper, Skratch started working on hot rods at age 16 in Fort Worth, Texas because it was in his blood.  Soon, he had established a money making business buying and selling used Camaro parts locally.  With an ever growing appetite for cars, he soon started buying cars outside the city, fixing them up and selling them for profit.  By the age of 20, he had rented his first shop and began modding 1950's Oldsmobiles and Chevrolets.  At age 26, he quit and moved to the West Coast - the U.S. capital of Hot Rods.  Soon, his pinstriping talents were noticed by various builders at events, and his new career in L.A. was born...Skratch's Garage.

DSC03708.jpg
As Skratch began to fabricate and pinstripe for various owners and builders...A following started to build.  Soon, his work could be seen in national magazines from Rod & Custom to Ol' Skool Rodz and from Lowrider Magazine to Burnout Magazine.  An art form normally reserved for the old codgers of hot rodding now had a young new face - striping everything from hot rods and lowriders to choppers and refrigerators.  When he wasn't hitting car shows or doing custom striping, he could be found in Skratch's Garage in Sun Valley, CA working on a growing list of metal fabrications projects and custom builds.
DSC03714.gif
We love Skratch!  Especially when he does striping for the ladies, with his 1 3/4"?? Squirrel hair striping brush (I forgot the length but I think it's towards 2").  And specialty custom art  for us too!!
DSC03762.jpg
Sweet...Gotta have the extra special flare.  This pinstriping vibe is DEF a good secret, magnet, weapon for getting the hotties.  I'm still working on getting my moped gang together.  So excited right now...And he stripes helmets too. I'm going stealth vibe though.  And... he is doing my hot rod, but I'm kinda thinking I'm gonna do the 47 Chevy truck vibe still...But...I want one of those Ford Coupe things too (I like those rusty ones), with a hat to match!!  I also heard that, matte black and primer is kinda played (I didn't think that could ever get played, but I guess that's the case these days....).  So we decided that I'm gonna do this matte navy, midnight blue vibe.  Shhh don't tell!   Cause nobody really knows about these dark matte colors....I've been working on being open minded and sharing lately, so...I'm filling you in on one of my secret spots (Skratch's Garage  www.skratchsgarage.net).

Not To Be Reproduced is a house in the Hollywood Hills turned vintage boutique/art gallery/performance space.  The concept began in the fall of 2007 as a high-end, appointment-only vintage boutique.  Mario Testino was one of the first customers and supportersCourtney Love chose the space to sell pieces from her own vintage and couture collection.  And Sally Singer did a write-up of the space for Nov. '07 Vogue, within a month of NTBR's creation.  As word spread about the house, actresses like Kate Bosworth, Melonie Diaz and Sophia Bush became customers.  And stylist Karl Templer began pulling looks from the store for Steven Meisel's Italian Vogue shoots.

IMG_0218.jpgThe concept of the house/store lead to the idea of a carefully curated lifestyle space of fashion, music and art.  NTBR began hosting salon-style events that have so far included a reading by author A.M. Homes, musical performances by Devendra Banhart, Justin Bond and Weimar NY, actress/singer Jena Malone, and folk-artist Mariee Sioux.  As well as a screening by Director M Blash of his film Lying starring Chloe Sevigny.  Art on display and for sale in the house, has included works by Tracey Emin, David LaChapelle, Thomas Struth, and Christoph Draeger. IMG_0196.jpg
OMG...Can we just talk about what a fox, NTBR owner Justin Kern is?!  I just can't even handle how hot this guy is.  Seriously...in person he kind of makes me a little nervous (you know I just love when that happens.  As long as I don't have to talk much. ha ha ha ha).  Hurry over and make an appointment.  You have got to get a good close up look at this guy.  Justin Kern is straight up flawless!! I couldn't think of anything I would rather do, than have Justin pick out hot fabulous gowns to try on.  Not only does he have stunna pieces to wear for every occasion...Justin Kern is...is....is seriously towards the top...of the top 4...of the hottest guys in Los Angeles, that I have come across...And I have come across a ton.  So...I def am feeling like...I know this to be a fact right now...
