Nalini 'Deedee' Cheriel is a visual artist who started out creating record covers and T-shirts for the Oregon punk scene in the early '90s. Now residing in Los Angeles, her work has evolved into iconic imagery set on vibrant layers and textured backgrounds. The use of flowers, plants, trees and animals resonate throughout her work.  The dualistic nature of her work is reflected through a series of opposites: anger and beauty; peace and discomfort; urban and Eden; debauchery and spirituality.
DSC06398.11.jpg
Cheriel uses stencils, silk-screens and other mixed media to re-create the grit of urban walls juxtaposed to nature.  A variety of materials are implemented such as Japanese lettering brushes, spray paint, pens and pencils.  This artist also practices conservation by using found objects: recycled paint, notebook paper, wood and brown paper trash bags.

Her materials flow with a myriad of techniques: haphazard drips, bold-gestured lines, whimsical patterns, fragile expressions and lustful yet delicate lines.  By using sand paper and aging procedures, a raw and timeless aesthetic is accomplished.

Marking Bob Gruen's first Los Angeles solo exhibit.  Featuring images of the Clash, Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, the Sex Pistols, the New York Dolls, Debbie Harry, Courtney Love, Yoko Ono, Joan Jett and More.

So...I just stumbled upon a file, I thought I lost from a couple months ago...I did loose half of the photos including the one of famed Rock and Roll Photographer, Bob Gruen and his wife Elizabeth, but there are still some good things to share with you.  Enjoy.

I liked this little gallery that was built for a ghost bar on Halloween right next to the Burgundy Room.

Jeff Hamilton, started his career as a designer in Paris.  He later moved to the States and became "the creative genius behind Guess."  These days he makes crazy leather jackets.  Each piece of color, is sewn on individually.  I am seriously giving props to whomever sewed these together.  I know it would take me at least a year to make one of these by myself.  I also saw that finey from Drugstore Cowboy there.  We love James LeGros.
